The addiction is spreading, while looking for some nice Wolfrace wheels for my DHC I found this pretty early (original Dutch) TR7 ...
It is far from perfect but overall pretty solid and the price was right, so it will be joining the fleet within the next week or so

Theo, about time you purchased a six cylinder Triumph motor car!

That looks ok though.

Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run: Part of the organising team, and honoured to be associated
RBRR is the best car event in the UK, not probably, it is!

1970 GT6 Mk.2: Royal Blue 6 RBRRs (98, 00,02,04,06 & 10, one failure 14), 2 10CRs (03 & 07). 2 HCRs 1 LCC, lots of Autosolos and numerous track days. Bought in 1983, crikey where did the time go! Lots of modifications, now fitted with a revvy 2000cc engine and she is going very well. GT6 are fantastic little cars that are very under-rated, mainly by people who have not driven one, its slow in and fast out!

1969 2.5Pi Mk.1: Slate Grey 4 10CRs (05, 09, 15 & 17), 4 RBRRs (08, 12, 16 and 187), 3 HCRs, 2 LCCs. A few alloy panels, does need the pi kit fitting. Bought April '04. Needs paint! Just fitted some new 7J Minilites-not copies! The car goes like a train on SUs, so why change! The car just sits and waits and waits and when needed is brilliant fun to drive. Triumph's best design? Impending engine and body work this (2019) Autumn and Winter.

1967 Spitfire mk2: Wedgewood Blue. Bought November 2010. Almost seems civilised. Car has done a RBRR (Dave Picton 2010). Back on the road since March 2017. Raw little car, but fun. Has lots of modifications, nothing too outlandish!

1970 TR6 Maroon. Bought May 2018. Since pruchase: Full suspension re-build, new clutch and propshaft plus re-built driveshafts. Goes well. Blimey, lots more done now, gearbox replaced (Canley Classics unit), 7J black minilites c/w Uniroyal tyres (Crikey, un-stickable), Revington's Targa springs. Now needs some engine work and some brakes. Otherwise, well on its way to becoming a Club Triumph type car, i.e. one that is actually used!

Triumph Dolomite Sprint (Now owned by Paul Hughes)

Herald 1200 Coupe on mk2 chassis (Now owned by Jess Cook and being properly used)

Vitesse mk2 Conv: Sold in 1983, still on the road!

Nah won't happen. Although, many many years ago he was on the right track as he purchased a GT6 workshop manual... He gave it to me so guess he'll stick to the wedgy stuff.....


1969 2.5 PI (Now 2.5PIE, running on EFI )
1971 GT6 mk3 (still going strong)
2007 Volvo V70 2.5T (After many years, again owner of a Swedish Turbo Brick)
2001 Audi A2 (replacement of the old Mini Cooper, and the total opposite. Will never ever rust but not exciting to drive)

Survivor of 10CR05, LCC06, RBRR06, 10CR07, LCC09, 10CR11' 10CR13,  RBRR14, 10CR17, 10CR19 (well sort off) and many many Dutch nightrallies.

Couple of piccies of Eve.

RBRR 2014 beckons......

Cactus over Olive. Cactus interior. MOD.

Has had PAS retro-fitted and an 8-track stereo. I have been given a box of cartridges for it, so Barbara Streisand awaits!

Bad points....
Has sat in undergrowth round the back of a very unsympathetic workshop for 2 years. 2 results, crusty sills and a frilly wheel arch and the front is covered in overspray from their other jobs where they sat them on the bonnet to paint them.
You can wash your feet as you drive as it is lapping up to the doors...
Electrics have been butchered a bit.
The workshop has stored dirty spares on what were once mint seats.

I stuck a battery in it and it started!, drove it onto teh trailer and depressing the brake pedal locked them all on. Looks like I now know what my first job is.

1972 Triumph 2000 – first car, daily driver and general hack, done 55,000 miles in my ownership. 2500 engine build 2012, transformed the car!

RBRR 2012 entrant AND finisher, despite having to swap a drive shaft on the way round...
Team 63 10CR 2013… 2210 miles and the car didn't miss a beat!

I  have a confession to make ...

I have just bought another Triumph - so its only my fourth currently owned.

Its a Dolomite Sprint, genuine 36000 miles from new, but it was rear ended 30 years ago and parked up in a dry garage.

The PO has replaced all the bent panels, it just needs a respray and recommissioning.

No rust or rot - amazing body condition apart from the replaced panels. Interior is immaculate

Might be my RBRR car yet as  can thrash drive it without worrying about the body work

I have always wanted another Sprint

A good Sprint is a decent car.  Suggest bigger brakes if you want to thrash it.  Mine always ran out of brakes very early on in the thrashing process which spoiled the fun.......
