Taxed the Spitfire, so all road legal now.   Drove it to work in the pouring rain too so I can get the diff diagnosed at Clive's meeting tonight.

Not a drop of water came in, which was a big surpirise - it has got a hard top, but I expected a few leaks. Only problem was the wipers often would not stop wiping when switched off. Another job to add to the long list.

Moved mine too higher ground to try and avoid the floods.

Drove the Sprint to work through the floods for my night shift, thinking it would wash off most of the mud and crap picked up on last Friday evening's Chelmsford Motor Club Road Rally - wrong!   Car remains filthy and mud caked  

I screwed around with my carb and broke the car - it idled but occasionally lost power when the throttle was pressed. So today I stripped the carb cleaned it all out and re tuned it from scratch. The car seemed to be running rich again but driving very nicely. Five minutes ago I popped into the garage and found a washer ('washer jet bush') sitting on the bench. Now i've got to do it all again tomorrow to put this damn washer back.

I received my Anti Burst Catches I got from a guy breaking a TR7 on ebay, I'm very pleased. Upon returning home to find them waiting I immediately went out to the garage and trial fitted them, they attach beautifully to the B posts, however I will need to drill holes for the door ones as my doors have been donated from a saloon. Any Tips on this?

Ideally you need the captive plates that go inside the B Posts, think they allowed a little adjustment. If I recall there should be dimples in the panel where the holes should go?

Hi Mike, Thanks for that info. I sent you a PM as I haven't received any emails yet. I'' get these things drilled before I send the car to another painter to have it refinished seeing as the other Div messed up so badly.

Sold it! I'm sad to see it go but it's not getting used and I want a new project (although I won't be getting one for a few months yet).

Uncovered the Herald for the first time in a couple of weeks. We've had over 6 inches of rain (the rain gauge overflowed) since it was last driven, so it had been tucked away under its cover on the drive. It wouldn't start, which is very out of caharater, so I opened the bonnet and was greeted by a sight I'm too ashamed to post. Whether it was the dampness from the rain running under the car and down the drive, or maybe the cover had a slight leak, but all the polished alloy bits were covered in white corrosion. The blingy rocker cover, twin carbs, polished bellhousing... all were furry and feral. So were the zinc-plated bits. A squirt of CRC in the distributor got it going but the sub-tropical wet season isn't doing it any good at all. I need to extend the garage (which involves rebuilding half the foundations of the house) before it has a dry home again. The interim solution was to run inside and order a Carcoon.

Tomorrow I'll take it for a drive to dry out and stretch its legs. It's a keeper so needs looking after properly.

Last Sunday went to my local club's yearly show.  the first show of the season in this area.  Wife drove the red conv and I the estate.   The estate took second in it's class beat out again by a Silver Car!  Both cars did very well on the road for the fist time out this year.

Nice one Bill!! The estate is looking even better than I remember.

Put the minilites back on MD - why did I ever take them off? Better ride and feel on the road now.

Ignoring the Trimodore; seeing it has decided not to start! Probably just a relay or fuse, but too busy tidying the garage before PT Cruiser engine arrives . . .

Meanwhile the spanners are all nicely racked (on nails) in the garage and I have actually found two Heralds under the piles of debris!!

Thanks Colin, I wish I had thought of that!!! I didn't take the tank out but can say it was a real bugger to put the nearside one on, hand are mashed up quite a bit........
