The starter on my Sprint engined TR is gradually getting worse. When you turn the key more often than not the starter just spins but doesn't engage, it has always done it since I got the car. It was just occasionally and I could live with it but now it is happening more and more and taking longer to engage. 1982 TR7 FHC "Sprint" |

Had thought about cleaning it, but if it doesn't work means taking it back off again. Prefer remove/fit once, especially as will probably be doing it on my back outside. 1982 TR7 FHC "Sprint" |

Removal en refitting of the starter motor isn't that difficult. Should be a 15 minute job on the drive ![]() ![]() 1976 TR7 FHC (currently undergoing some TLC ...) 1980 TR7 DHC (a.k.a. Depends which engine back plate you use. I have a TR7 back plate on my Sprint engine. So a TR7 starter. ![]() 1976 TR7 FHC (currently undergoing some TLC ...) 1980 TR7 DHC (a.k.a. Kermette, my first car bought in 1988 ) 1981 TR7 FHC (Sprint engined, a.k.a. 't Kreng) http://tr7beans.blogspot.com/ |

Should have said earlier I went for a new Hi Torque starter, what a difference it has made to starting, it really throws the engine over. Best modification I've done to the car 1982 TR7 FHC "Sprint" |
