New shoes, cylinders and fittings. The circlip retaining the cylinders on the backplate was incredibly tough to fit! I had to chamfer the ends a bit more! ![]() |

I noticed the old shock inserts had become a bit rusty at the bottom. I decided to spray the inside of the tubes with Waxoil to help preserve the new KYB inserts and tubes. I also sealed the small gap between the threaded tube and the main tube at the top with silicone to prevent moisture getting between them. This area is protected under the gaitor but thought it best to seal it. I had a bit of a problem fitting my old springs over the threaded tube. The bottom curl on the spring was to tight to go over the tube. I couldn't bend the curl open more so had to grind a bit of the inside of the spring away to get it to sit nicely over the lower rubber. ![]() |

Not sure why my last post was posted several times! Can these be deleted, I'm don't seem to have the option! Anyhow, a bit more done today. Basically front SD1 Vitesse 4 pots and discs fitted. ![]() |

Thought I'd do a bit of prep on my bonnet and boot. The blue was annoying me! ![]() |

Stripped and rust proofed my very rusty lower rad bracket. I also rectified my handbrake pivot arm. Got it the wrong way on the axle - up instead of down! ![]() |

Coming together! I thought the SD1 kit only worked with minimum 15" wheels? |

Quoted from Benzo I bought the kit about 10 years ago at half price! It was still in the packaging in my garage and there is a note inside suggesting that you cannot use the 'standard' 13" wheels with this kit. They also recommend minimum 14" wheels and refer you to their stock. I thought maybe the lighter race revolutions might just fit. I posted about this earlier in the thread. Basically, the 7x13 Revolutions (00 offset) fitted but when the nuts were tightened there was contact. I had to shave a couple of mm off the caliper body at the upper and lower edges. I've since repainted my calipers and tried the wheels again with tightened nuts and all ok! ![]() |

I thought I'd posted a pic of the front calipers freshly painted with gold caliper enamel. Looks like I overlooked it, so here they are! ![]() |

Here's my propshaft too. Sanded back the surface rust, treated primed and stone chipped matt black. I also removed the diff cover and gave it the same treatment. That stone chip guard is great! Will use this on the rad bracket next. ![]() |

Check that the propshaft has enough axial movement left when fitted ![]() 1976 TR7 FHC (currently undergoing some TLC ...) 1980 TR7 DHC (a.k.a. Kermette, my first car bought in 1988 ) 1981 TR7 FHC (Sprint engined, a.k.a. 't Kreng) http://tr7beans.blogspot.com/ |

I think mines ok Beans but will see what it's like when fitted. The joints seem to move freely in all directions including in and out so hopefully will be ok. Thanks for the heads up |
