I've also painted the front shock tubes in red gloss and also the old front springs which are already lowered and uprated. Although I'm nowhere near the interior yet, I picked up this steering wheel on ebay. I already have an original Moto-Lita TR8 steering wheel but wanted something more rally orientated. Saw this for £30 inc delivery! I thought it was a copy but it appears it's a proper OMP! I've also bought a Springalex boss so this will be fitted once the car is complete! ![]() |

Quoted from Jonny-Jimbo I wasn't expecting it to say OMP on it and me suggesting it was a real OMP was meant to be tongue in cheek. You'd be surprised at the amount of stuff made in China. Most of the clothes you buy are made in China. Most top manufacturers have factories in China. Basically for years the West have exploited their cheap labour and now we complain when they start doing it for themselves and exploiting the West. I bet your TV is Chinese, in fact most of the stuff you own. A lot of VWs are made in China. My MG6 is Chinese but made in Birmingham! I don't hate the Chinese, but I don't, agree with fakes. Copies fair enough. Then again, I am the Fony! The wheel is good quality for the price and I'll be using it on my Fony rally car! BTW, 'operating from' does not mean 'made in'. I would not be at all surprised if some OMP products are found to be made outside of italy. I hate companies that exploit the poor by using them as cheap labour and ripping us off at the same time! |

What's more, if it wasn't for the Chinese, half our remaining miniscule manufacturing industry would disappear overnight. It wasn't that long ago that we were complaining about the Japanese copying our cars. Now look at them and look at us! They nicked 'our' Lotus Elan concept to name just one didn't they? Did the same with our motorbike industry too! Now I resisted buying Japanese bikes and bought a Hinkley Triumph. Now they have gone from strength to strength! Mind you, I now have a Buell! Great American V twin! |

No, don't get me wrong, I know a lot of stuff is made in China, and it's now virtually impossible to buy anything that is not made there. My issue is the complete disregard for Intellectual Property Rights etc. 67 2000 - Fitted with 2.5 o/d - 2012 RBRR, 2015 Essex Rally, 2016 HCR, 2016 RBRR 67 2000 Estate - Dormant 70 Herald 13/60 - First car, many bits 77 CZ 125 Sport - 70 miles on the clock 77 Kawasaki KM90 - Shop hack 81 Yamaha DT125 - Many bits 88 Ginetta G4/4 - Dead 88 BMW E30 320i - For Sale 89 Citroen AX GT - Rally car! 90 BMW E30 318iS - Building to FIA spec 90 Mazda Eunos 1.6 - 'Popeye' 93 BMW 530i - Donor 95 BMW E34 540i - 4L V8 |

I agree, we need to stick to the original subject! However, just one last comment. The Chinese also make Audi lookalikes as well as many others. I've not really got a problem with this as they are only sold in their home market and I think they are quite novel. I wonder if they also fake the emissions results as well! I hope not as things like that I find really unacceptable! |

If there's a market for something then the Chinese will oblige. Making new shells of old cars like Escort Mk1 and 2 is a great idea and there is certainly a market for these if you look at the price of them now! Better still would be a TR7 shell! The problem is there will always be a middle man exploiting both them and us. If we could buy direct from them at a fair price this would be great! I'd consider buying a TR7 shell as a spare for sure! I'd get it galvanised |

Robsport had an unused shell they were selling with the Scottish Rally Winner car a few months back, don't know if it sold or not. 62 Vitesse 1600 - Slammed & modified67 2000 - Fitted with 2.5 o/d - 2012 RBRR, 2015 Essex Rally, 2016 HCR, 2016 RBRR 67 2000 Estate - Dormant 70 Herald 13/60 - First car, many bits 77 CZ 125 Sport - 70 miles on the clock 77 Kawasaki KM90 - Shop hack 81 Yamaha DT125 - Many bits 88 Ginetta G4/4 - Dead 88 BMW E30 320i - For Sale 89 Citroen AX GT - Rally car! 90 BMW E30 318iS - Building to FIA spec 90 Mazda Eunos 1.6 - 'Popeye' 93 BMW 530i - Donor 95 BMW E34 540i - 4L V8 |

Not much progress I'm afraid as I was away over Easter and since coming back the weather has been terrible! Managed to refit the front anti-roll bar and lower arms complete with poly bushes, new nuts and bolts and a new anti dive kit. I was going to re-assemble the suspension struts but I noticed the hole in one of the top cone shaped bearings is oval! I'm going to get a pair of new ones and I also need new top spring seats. Hoping for better weather next weekend! Tomorrow is forecast rain to, but hey, world superbikes is on as well as the BTCC! Look out for the MG6s ! ![]() |

Ha, looks like the cone shaped strut mounting/bearing is no longer available. I'll have to get a used one. One of mine looks good but the other has an oval hole worn through it. |
