Another quick question, does the distributor come out without having to remove the inlet manifold? 1982 TR7 FHC "Sprint" |

Quoted from Stuart Wilson Yes, but, IIRC, only with the hex drive bar for it and oil pump out of the distributor drive shaft. And reassembly isn't always as quite as easy. Quoted from A TR7 16V So it may be as easy to take the manifold off ![]() With the manifold off should the distributor just pull out? 1982 TR7 FHC "Sprint" |

Quoted from Beans Absolutly, and I've only had that bar stick in the dizy drive once (I think). And even then I was able to get it out of the dizy, and back down the hole enough to wriggle the dizy out - though there may have been tears at some point in that process. So I've never taken the manifold off just to remove the dizy - but it's been close. Quoted from Stuart Wilson Except for the other clamp bolt, that is. Though, as it's a bit fiddly to get back in, it wouldn't be the first with the dizy held in by only one set screw. I have a Snap On 7/16th socket that just fits, but not all do. I've a couple of crows foot spanners that don't do it. DON'T remove the inlet manifold. It isn't necessary. Yes, it is a pig of a job but you can get to the bolts with a small spanner. I swapped the Delco dizzy in my 1850 for a Sprint one which makes life so much easier. It is worth fitting a Sprint dizzy to the 8v TR7 engine even if you stick with points and gives you more options for electronic ignition.
