I'm doing on Sprint conversion on my TR7. The valve seats on the Sprint head need to be ground but the machinist does not have a pilot that is the correct size. Does anyone know what the ID is on a new valve guide? |

The valve guide diameter (ø7,14mm) isn't that crucial, just measure it from the guides in situ. ![]() 1976 TR7 FHC (currently undergoing some TLC ...) 1980 TR7 DHC (a.k.a. Kermette, my first car bought in 1988 ) 1981 TR7 FHC (Sprint engined, a.k.a. 't Kreng) http://tr7beans.blogspot.com/ |

Thanks Beans. The machinist I"m using has never seen a British motor before he did some work on my 2.0L. He's shaking his head over the design of the Dolominte head. I think he's used to working on the big V8s we had here in the 60's and 70's. This thing is like a motorcyle engine for him and his tools. nick |

The machine shop I use routinely deals with commercials - they have cylinder heads in for renovation as big as my six cylinder block. Old Blue. 1995-2001 Silverback. 2001-2007 SofS. 2007 - to date. |

If he curses his tools turn your back on him, find someone who loves what he's doing. ![]() 1976 TR7 FHC (currently undergoing some TLC ...) 1980 TR7 DHC (a.k.a. Kermette, my first car bought in 1988 ) 1981 TR7 FHC (Sprint engined, a.k.a. 't Kreng) http://tr7beans.blogspot.com/ |
