Just had delivered my very first TR7 to go alongside my white Stag.

Car is in great shape, great body, no dents, no rust, original paint, 50,000 miles, all history and no sunroof and the great red tartan interior. The question I have is it has a five speed gearbox, I didn't think the early cars had that option? If it was an option for the five speed, what other bits come with that option, breaks, diff. etc. (wing mirror is in the car)

Not had a chance to polish yet as it’s so ******* hot and I would probably get snow blindness.

5-Speed 'box was an option on earlier cars, from October 1976 till March 1977.
In that case it should have an "F" suffix to the chassis number (ACG ..... F)
This option was deleted for European cars due to the demand for that transmission in the US of A.
The 5-speed option was reintroduced as an option in January 1978.

With the 5-speed came a different back axle, rear brakes and prop-shaft.
Not sure about the lower links, on original 5-speed cars they are different too.

A bit more info if anyone can help. I remember in the day seeing TR7’s with a black plastic slatted thing that went over the back window, I think it was supposed to stop the sun getting in. Are they still available?

They are not, but might pop up on Ebay if you're lucky.
And as Raider already mentioned tidy looking car, keep the roof intact  8)

Don't think I've seen a white one before. Or there's something about yours making it different. Almost looks like a Airfix kit just waiting for the stickers to be applied.

Hi all, thanks for all your comments.

The car is all now MOT’d and running great, fantastic car but takes a bit of getting used to as it’s so low and I am so old.

Only problem I have encountered is with the gear change, I first thought I had a problem with the reverse baulk spring as I keep on selecting reverse to easily, but now have found out the problem.

Because the gear stick is stiff on it’s side to side movement I was inadvertently applying to much pressure and going past the reverse bulk. Is their a way to make my sideways moment of the gear stick less stiff so I can feel the reverse bulk before going past it so I would be able to move with one finger or is this just a TR7 thing?
