Hi,

I have a pair of SD1 brake calipers (non vented) and I would like to put these on the TR7.
Does anybody know if they fit and are straight bolt on? Do I need to change the discs?
There are 14 alloy wheels on the TR7.

Don't know the (non vented) SD1 callipers, but it is a safe bet that you'll have to change the discs.
The original TR7 discs are rather small and thin  :o

As for them bolting straight onto a TR7 strut, that is pretty easy to find out with a spare strut ...

I forgot to mention the SD1 Calipers I have are 4 pots. They are the same size as the vented one only without the spacer.

I noticed that tr8 brake discs are a bit larger and not as thin as the original tr7 discs. Would their size be sufficient for those calipers.
I doubt the SD1 discs wil fit as they have 5 holes and the tr7 has 4 holes.

Fitted the Rimmer SD1 Vitesse Disc/caliper conversion a few years ago and from what I can remember the calipers were drilled to suit the TR7 strut (a call to Rimmers might be worth a go). I'd definately recommend TR8 discs as a minimum. The SD1 conversion replaced Princess calipers and Capri discs and I can remember noting the original holes in the calipers were blanked and new holes were drilled to suit.

As an aside, I've been trying to eleminate the vibration I get through the steering wheel and although I'd not linked the two before I wonder if it's the conversion that's causing it due to the extra weight because the SD1 parts are very heavy.

Does anyone knows the dimensions of the TR8 discs and the standard TR7 discs?

Do you have an anti dive kit mounted? We had some vibrations in our steering wheels. After we mounted an anti dive kit and had our wheels balanced it was gone.
