Anyone else having a problem with poor quality choke cables, we've been through about 4 in two years, the alloy parts appear to be made of cream cheese rather than metal. I grew up on cars with manual chokes so its not a user issue. |

I had one brake at the knob end recently. I got it used with some SU carbs I bought so I have no idea how old it was. Replaced it with one from Rimmer. I'll see how long that one goes. |

I know that feeling, in my case they also lasted less then a year. I didn't try another aftermarket set but collected a few original second hand sets. That's why I replicated the original pattern in aluminium (see this thread: http://club.triumph.org.uk/cgi-bin/forum10/Blah.pl?m-1230585123/s-345/) Another possibility could be this suggestion ... I had the same problem with my Spitfire, bought a new cable and the first week i was driving i sometimes needed to press the throttle hard and sometimes not (so then it revved up high ! ). Bought another cable (from paddocks) and even i didn't fit it as it was the same way, i could feel it straight away ! So got to a bicycle shop, bought a cable, outer sleeve & some connectors (they said they sold a lot to Bedford owners in the 70's !) . It's been working nice and smooth since then. Don't know if you can do the same on a TR7, but worth a try ! :) Triumph Spitfire 1500 ( 1978 ) / The Fox

Will checkout the TR3 blocks. Will try some cable ties and maybe whizzing up some sort of additional support bracket. |
