I've been having trouble for the past few weeks with miss-firing and cutting out on the TR

After changing most of the Ignition system (Some parts twice!) and trying 3 different Lucas Pumps it turns out to be a blockage on the Outlet from the Tank! (Thanks to Neil Ferguson the PI Guy for his help and advice in solving the problem)

A pea sized lump of something (Congealed fuel maybe?) was partially blocking the outlet

After removal of the Tank, cleaning and emptying several times I'm hoping the problem is solved, You can just about make out the Lump in the Photo?

After a bit of advice from my mate John he's made me a new section of pipe that actually sticks up 1/2" into the tank to stop this happening again should anything elese get in there!

A few years ago I had a very similar thing happen on my TR6 although it would run perfectly for 1/2 an hour and then just die. To cut a long story short after this had happened several times I was so frustrated when I eventually got home one day that I ripped the whole fuel supply out and finally shook the tank. There was an ominous rattle from inside so I turned it upside down and shook it again and out popped a steel washer. Having given it some thought I came to the conclusion that it had probably been in there since the car was built but when I filled up with petrol for the first time that summer it had sloshed over in to the anti swirl pot ( which I don't think is fitted to your 5. It certainly gave me a few more grey hairs.

I'm not sure if my Tank is orginal TR5 or TR6?

It does have strengthening Baffles either side, the problem completely bambuzled me!!

Not been for a long run yet, but I'm convinced this was the trouble.

I've made a bit of a modification on the suggestion of a mate,

Renewed the pipe into the tank and made it a bit longer so the pipe sticks up from the bottom of the tank 1/2" or so, just in case any Debaris or rust flakes are still in there and drop to the bottom of the tank
