Has anyone written up a step by step guide on retro fitting power steering? IE everything that is needed to carry out the conversion(apart from the obvious) Its not that I am incapable of carrying out the work, I just want to make sure that I have absolutely everything to hand prepared and ready to bolt on once I start the job, I dont like being interrupted waiting on parts that I should have had in the first place!

Chris witor does a full list of parts
I did mine ok
front engine plate is difficult to find ,
Some  modify the original
But in simple terms
Support car and Replace and fit  PStg.  front crossmember
Replace front engine plate
replace intermediate stg column shaft and uj
add PStg pump and pressure and return hoses
remove crank pulley and fan drive fit additional grooved pulley and long bolt
pstg belt
fit Pstg rack and new poly bushes
two peice  bottom rad hose and  connector tube

Think this covers most of the job

Also different track rod ends and steering arms that bolt to the hub spiders. PAS steering arms have the letter 'P' embossed on them.

Yeah, getting a front engine plate and fitting it is probably the worst part. You need to remove and refit the timing gears too. Apart from that fairly straight forward

Not changing the arms gives an effect way worse than you would expect.

Forgot about the arms and TRE  these are next size up from std.
will get the CW list out but its out in the cold so tomorrow

one of my locals did the same and photo and texted the job in a TSSC Courier  article

Don't forget the two brackets that hold the pump. The one that bolts to the front plate and the other one that bolts to the side of the engine block.

Also the PAS belt.

Many Thanks to everyone that has replied especially Pete Lewis for his list of components and pictures, all really useful, everything is either ordered or about to be, So as soon as the temperature in the Garage improves will get on with the conversion!! It almost seems wrong to start altering a car that has never been interfered with including welding, The end rust treatment from new did what it said on the tin as they say!!

The first rip down the road will make ypu feel, this is realy good and whoopee  

ive since fitted a 15" springaflex  woodrim   wheel looks good and less  labourious than the original

Going too small doesnt suit the cars style

im sure you will find it a much happier drive
Dont forget to reset the front wheel toe in after all the changes and if the backend
does any lane swapping after a roundabout , get the drive shafts telscopes cleaned and greased and fit poly bushes to the rear trailing arms

and while the front x member is off also the bottom ball joints and tie rod   domed rubbers

and when you're bored grease the top strut spacer/ pivot bush
theres no bearing umder the  metalastic mount just a nasty spacer these can go stiff

hi kenny,

i supply full PAS kits, every thing you need down to the last new nut and bolt.

rack and pump are reconditioned, all appropriate is blasted and power coated, all other parts are new.

there are over 50 items required to make up the full PAS kit believe it or not !

Rimmers have one in their silly sale of 2000 parts   press on p stg pulley  mk2 type £4
Dont how these evolved  it may not suit your crank pulley

Hi,  unfortunately that is the pump pulley, from memory there were two different pump shafts one was keyed for the pulley the other was a plain shaft and the pulley had to be pressed on!

If I cannot get a crank pulley, can someone let me have the dimensions/sizes etc, I can buy a alloy pulley and have it machined to suit.

Pick your own challenge, but electric power steering may be an easier, and less power sapping option.
Several compnaies offer kits for fitting to classic cars that never had power steering.
It's very cunning, can be set to diminish in power (and current use of course) as speed increases, usually switches off above 30mph, while the hydraulic goes on running.

He should be supported, his panel manufacturing campaign has saved many a car in recent years, he is a good guy and very fair.

RBRR is the best car event in the UK, not probably, it is!

1970 GT6 Mk.2: Royal Blue 6 RBRRs (98, 00,02,04,06 & 10, one failure 14), 2 10CRs (03 & 07). 2 HCRs 1 LCC, lots of Autosolos and numerous track days. Bought in 1983, crikey where did the time go! Lots of modifications, now fitted with a revvy 2000cc engine and she is going very well. GT6 are fantastic little cars that are very under-rated, mainly by people who have not driven one, its slow in and fast out!

1969 2.5Pi Mk.1: Slate Grey 4 10CRs (05, 09, 15 & 17), 4 RBRRs (08, 12, 16 and 187), 3 HCRs, 2 LCCs. A few alloy panels, does need the pi kit fitting. Bought April '04. Needs paint! Just fitted some new 7J Minilites-not copies! The car goes like a train on SUs, so why change! The car just sits and waits and waits and when needed is brilliant fun to drive. Triumph's best design? Impending engine and body work this (2019) Autumn and Winter.

1967 Spitfire mk2: Wedgewood Blue. Bought November 2010. Almost seems civilised. Car has done a RBRR (Dave Picton 2010). Back on the road since March 2017. Raw little car, but fun. Has lots of modifications, nothing too outlandish!

1970 TR6 Maroon. Bought May 2018. Since pruchase: Full suspension re-build, new clutch and propshaft plus re-built driveshafts. Goes well. Blimey, lots more done now, gearbox replaced (Canley Classics unit), 7J black minilites c/w Uniroyal tyres (Crikey, un-stickable), Revington's Targa springs. Now needs some engine work and some brakes. Otherwise, well on its way to becoming a Club Triumph type car, i.e. one that is actually used!
