On my 65 2000 MK1 I have a straight wiper arm and one with a crank at the end. Would anyone know which side the straight arm is supposed to be fitted?

The modern replacements sometimes have both arms cranked at the end.

I have an early photograph (70s) of my 2000 with the straight arm on the drivers side, but then I've seen another early photo example with the straight arm fitted on the passenger side!

How are they fitted on your 2000MK1?

I'm pretty sure that the straight one should be on the drivers side and the kinked on the passenger.

Hello Darren,

I dislike the way that Triumph made the wipers as it gives an unswpt are to the right of the drivers side of the screen. So on my car I repositioned the boxes to left hand drive configuration which gives what I think is a better sweep of the screen. It was a lot of work as I also fitted Mk2 motor and switches.
I have a write up of the procedure if anyone is interested.  You can see the result on my avator.

Sounds ingenious. I agree mine also seems to miss a dirty great patch on the passenger side as well.

That's interesting Steve, mine has a kinked arm on the driver's side and straight on the passenger's side. Mine is a 68, don't know if that makes a difference or if they've just been swapped over.

Just been out in the rain and my configuration works better than I think the opposite would. Kinked on the driver's side clears lower down the screen and straight on the passenger side clears further across. Don't know if it's correct, but I'll leave mine as it is.

Straight on the drivers side and canked on the passenger is the correct way.

The driver side is straight so that when the wipers are parked, all of the blade touches the screen. If you put cranked on the drivers side in park position the end of the blade hangs off the end of the screen and sits on the stainless trim/rubber seal, so that it bends the blade. If left too long when you try and wipe the screen your blade is deformed and it won't work properly.

Each to their own, but this is the factory way.

Having said that, I have cranked on both of mine as I prefer it that way!!
