Hello all... I have just got myself a 1969 mk2 auto that hasnt been used much in the passed 16 years. My question is about the temperature gauge. After fitting a new sensor as the other didnt work it says that the car is running very hot.... Yet I have used a lazer tester and its seems to be fine. Do you think its the wrong sensor or just a faulty gauge?

Wrong sensor is likely. There are a few that will fit, but you need to get the correct one! A specialist triumph supplier should be able to help, and I think the colour of the sender is a tell-tale (or was ) The other possibility is the voltage stabiliser, it regulates the supply to fuel and temp gauges at 10V (a bit crude, so if tested it will jump about on the voltage) However, if the fuel gauge is also very optimistic then that is teh other possibility. Thanks for your reply. I see your in Brighton im over in Hastings so not so far. Well I have ordered of flea bay a complete dash so I will fit that sometime next week. Im sure that the car doesnt over heat. Sometimes buying rubbish from flea bay is just not worth it. (sensor) Do you have a parts person in the club that I can order bits from? (sensor) |
