Club Triumph

Hi everyone ,

Just to let you know that Caistor Hall are proposing to charge us £50 next year for the use of their room and to drink their rotten beer !!!!

We need to suss out some alternatives re car parking availability and possible cost [free if possible!]  to have a room for our meetings before we [ i ] do or say anything hasty to Caistor Hall!!

Any ideas gratefully received !! Keith and I will go and have a look at the Dun Cow which is on the A140 soon. Please could we have some viable suggestions [which you have already visited] as possible alternatives.

Do you think Dunston Hall will charge, probably will as very commercial.
Can think of a couple of others.
The Mill Inn - Saxlingham Thorpe.
The Marsh Harrier - A140 - Norwich.
Bird in Hand - Wreningham.

I think all worth approaching?

I think the Bird in Hand is a very good idea . I'm not so familiar with the other two!!

We are just back from hospital visiting - Keith's mother has been moved to All Hallows today so that is much closer than the N& N it only takes ten minutes from here.

Isn't The Bird In Hand used by another Triumph club? If so it would be nice to have somewhere different, BUT at least The Bird In Hand would be used to what we want/need!

There is The Dove, between Poringland and Brooke, which has a conservatory, and does food.
There is also The Kings Head at Brooke but I do not know if it has a separate room.
There are quite a few pubs on the A140, eg The Countryman, but I do not know about rooms for us. I believe The White Horse at Trowse has a function room.

I'm sure between us we can up with somewhere!

Hope things progress with Keith's mum. Will she remain at All Hallows medium term or are things like that still up in the air?

Doesn't at least one other car club (MG?) use Caister Hall - Would it be worth talking to them to see what they are doing or to negotiate jointly with the Hall?

the ncvc moved to anglian windows social club, The railway in wymondham has a car meet so is used to that type of thing,
Would you be better finding somewhere where people can see the cars rather than somewhere in the middle of no where.
Can`t make xmas dinner but will see yiu soon.

Thank you everyone who has given us some suggestions for a new venue for our meetings . We will follow up where we can in between hospital visits!!

Paul, thanks for the enquiry - Doris [ keiths mum] has improved a lot since we spoke though she still has days where she is rather out of it followed by more lucid days but no memory !! All Hallows is a rehab unit and a kind of half way house where they will try to get her ready to go home and put a care plan in place etc . Don't know how long she will be there.

We will check out The Railway seems a reasonable distance for most people ( easy for you !).

Will be great to get away from our present venue. Not only is the beer rubbish, but so is their flat lemonade. (puke) Expensive as well! (verymad)

Wymondham area would be good, it certainly wouldn't be an 80 mile round trip for us as the present venue is!  ??)

Sue, What about the Woods End by the river at Kirby Bedon -  am sure they would love to see CT during the winter and the food + beer was generally good

Yes I agree it is a lovely place , we visited it last summer when we were looking for place to hold a summer picnic or lunch. My only reservation  about it is- would the little roads be a bit dicey in the frosty weather ?

Thanks Alan for your thoughts - we were most concerned about you and the distance you already have to travel which is why we thought Wymondham might be a good idea!!

I'm glad you agree the booze at CH is awful- Keith has been complaining for several months, so their intention to charge us so much has really given us an added incentive to look elsewhere.
