Club Triumph

I know there is no longer a Norfolk area as such ,but do members take advantage of the offers from other Triumph clubs & still meet up in the area

I had no intention of causing so many problems due to my initial posting of the kind offer of a temporary home to any Norfolk CT member, by the national committee of the SOC. They are Triumph people after all! It was posted simply to let anyone, who wished to keep in contact with Triumph events be able to do so. There was also the offer from the local Wensum TR Register.

As Suziestag posted – ‘Several  friendly local classic car clubs have offered Norfolk CT members the option of joining their meetings. Wensum TR Register run by Dave Solomon, The MG Owners Club who are now multi marque and now the Stag Owners Club. My original post was ‘Norfolk Area’ therefore as Rust Restorer pointed out, I hoped to see some of my ex-Norfolk colleagues on some of the runs that any classic, Ancient & Modern of any Marque, can join in. He clearly read the original post correctly and without any knee-jerk reaction.
Apologies if I did not make my post clear enough, however some of the comments to the original post would suggest some people did not read it clearly enough!

Rust Restorer also refers of the visit to our area last year by a couple of officials – apologies, I have forgotten your names. It is true you were very keen to promote the big CT events. These are big events, take a lot of organising and I take my hat off to anyone who organises and takes part in them. However the area, I forget who mentioned it, pointed out that we were not interested in what we called ‘sleep deprivation’ type of events, and expressed our frustration at the difficulty of organising a small, 2 Hr. drive, with a coffee stop, and then followed by lunch. This would not be the ‘average speed of 64 mph’ event as quoted in one of the replies to my original post.

I know of a few people locally who are in more than one Triumph club, therefore owners of Triumphs who are in TR Reg, SOC or TSSC as well as CT can read all this anger and comments that appear to have become personal in nature in some cases. It will not do the club any good at all if potential members start to see some of these personal comments, or members of other clubs see them either!

Let’s hope that CT and the MSA can come to some sensible agreement over the organising of small local runs, as opposed to the large multi-county runs such as the RBRR etc.

To re-iterate; - I did not want, neither did I imagine, the forwarding of a kind invitation to attend the meetings of another Triumph Club, whilst the local Club Triumph is in limbo, would create so much fuss and angst.

Saffie - I think what we saw was a couple of threads getting crossed in discussions... the 64mph thing wasn't to do with your post etc. hence it's been moved.

As I said previously, great that we've still got something going on in the Norfolk area until something more permanent from a CT angle resumes.

Andy - Bit disturbed by some of your comments regarding main committee - as from what you've said, that doesn't reflect what was fed back from the committee meetings I've been present at. I've dropped you a PM to discuss further.

The Reason the Norfolk ct area meets were only attended by people not interested in the bigger CT events, Was comments made by the area AO a few years ago which alienated the Norfolk members who did and still do the bigger event.

          The Stag Owners Club are very active locally and meet - according to their web-site - on the 1st Tuesday of the month at The Village Inn, Little Melton, Norwich at 8.00pm.
The Wensum TR Register are also active and local TSSC meet - again according to their web-site - on the 2nd Monday of the month at The Bird-in-Hand, Wreningham at about 8.00pm.
I know the Area Organisers of all 3 clubs plus some of the members and I am sure you would be made very welcome.
