My friend Jerry is restoring a 2 litre Vitesse and has lost the heater water valve and bracket. He thinks he needs the valve with one flange and the pipe to flange adapter type and a mounting bracket. He would like to know if this is correct and if so, what does the bracket mount to. Photos would be really helpful. Thank you.

John

yes the valve is attached to a simple standoff bracket this holds the valve up against the inlet matrix tube and is sealed with rubber olive

think it  just one bolt to the heater case,   for rubber olive  i cut chamfered a short bit of heater hose ,worked ok for years

cant find a decent photo or scan to show the ruddy thing
if the seat is till there i cant delete it  ........  Grr

Thank you Pete. More or less as he thought and feared because he'll have to take the heater apart to screw on the bracket.

cheers

Bracket screws on from the outside I think...... just taken mine off to adapt all the plumbing to accommodate an alternative valve that works.

Heater box comes apart in seconds anyway (if off the car) as it;s just 5 spring clips.

Thanks Nick. Jerry has fitted the heater back onto the scuttle but even then, not a huge job to get it apart. He was just after clarification that the bracket does fit directly to the box which you and Pete have both given.

Thanks again, John

Found a pic.....

Not great but you can just about see the bracket.  You usually get a new bracket, O ring and bolts/nuts with the new heater valve.  It's a pity the valve diaphragms are made of pretend rubber with a very short life.....
