Hi Everybody,

Just joined the Club after meeting members at the Bristol Classic car show recently.

First technical question I'm afraid.  I think I have a rust problem between the roof and the top of the windscreen surround above the drivers seat. I assume I will have to take the roof off to investigate. The thing is that my headlining is in very good condition and so will taking the roof off damage the headlining. Obviously if any rust has spread under the lining then it will need to be removed.
Many thanks

This is a very common area for rust to get in and it usually starts to push apart the seam onthe front edge. Unfortunately its a bit of a pig to really sort out however the good news is that the roof should come off without damaging the headlining The door seal has to be gentle pulled away from the roof and also care taken not to let the rear quarter windows drop out as you and helper lift off the roof. It might be quite well stuck down with sealant if its the first time its ever been done....
