Hello fellow triumphant ones.

I have spent the last 18 months resto modding a 1970 1360 herald and now my gearbox has done poos and died. I have managed to score a good condition toledo gearbox. A few questions : 1. Will it fit in my 13/60 2. What do i need to change/ modify 3. Do i use my old herald bellhousing or do I use the toledo one to mate up to my factory ( on the outside) motor?

Many thanks in advance

the input shaft will probably be a rolled spline rather that the 10 cut splines of the 13/60  you may need a toledo clutch disc.

If it's a Toledo 3-rail box, not a Dolomite one, then I think it's the same input shaft as a 13/60. The only difference between the gearboxes, I think, is that the Toledo had the larger output flange, as on a Mk4 Spitfire box.

Current fleet
1967 Vitesse 2L conv "Tessa"
1970 Spitfire Mk3 (project) "Toby"
1972 GT6 Mk3
Not enough time or space
Recently sold:
1972 2.5 PI estate "Harry" (gone to russell on here)
1973 Toledo 2-door "Spike" (gone to a club official)
Used to have:
1968 Vitesse 2L saloon
1980 Dolomite 1500
1977 Dolomite 1850
1980 Dolomite Sprint
1982 TR7 DHC Sprint
1975 2500S saloon
1971 Herald 13/60 Estate (with 1500 Spit engine)
1975 Stag

My Herald has a Toledo 3-rail box fitted. The outlut flange is curcular, has a large pitch circle and is also 1/2in thicker. So you will need to change the flange on your existing propshaft (one from a Toledo, Spitfire, Vitesse, Dolomite etc...) and position some spacers behind the engine mounts to space the enginne further forwards. Alternatively you can shorten the prop by 1/2in, but i dont think its really worth the cost or effort.
