The Type 12 calipers look like they've seen better days so I was considering an upgrade to the Type 14 as has been discussed in various threads here.  Due to the clearance issues, I bought a pair of Type 14 hubs from eBay as it seemed easier than grinding the edges to clear the calipers and they were going cheap.  But what bearings do I fit to them?  There seem to be two different sizes and I don't know whether it's the stub axle or the hub that differs, or possibly both.  The GHK1011 kit seems to be for the Vitesse, but the GHK1021 kit fits the Type 14 hub.

Once the bearings are sorted, is it just a case of swapping the calipers and fitting Type 14 pads with the original Type 12 disc or are there any other gotchas?  I'm hoping to do this in two stages - hub swap first and caliper/pads after payday.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
Dave

You have I guess a herald hub , the stub axle on the vit6 is different diameter , so getting a set of inner and outer that fit could be a bit hybrid

on my vit6 we converted to type 16 calipers so the stub wasnt a problem

Like Pete says, youve a herald hub. Making those fit the larger stubs will not be easier than grinding the edges of your vitesse hubs. Id put them back on ebay I think

if you dream about going to type 16 you do have to locate a vitesse GT6 caliper mount as the hole centres are about 1/2 a hole  different
certainly  much larger pad area ,  but then you need the disc to match.

if you stick to the   type  14 plan then get some mintex 1144 pads and bed them in properly

Thanks both.  Not good news but at least I won't be wasting any more time or money on getting this to work.  When I've got the calipers then Ill be digging around to find the angle grinder.

Do look out for  16,  certainly my hairy Vit6  on 12s was hopeless like  hacking into a roundabout    Oops!!
the type 16 is the way to go as used on the 2ltr    14s are only a marginal improvement

That sounds more worthwhile Pete.  I'll certainly keep a lookout on eBay for a Type 16 setup.  I'd got used to the Type 14s on the old 13/60 but these Type 12s on the 6 are a bit "interesting" at times.

I do like the look of the alloy 4 pots the TSSC shop sells for use with standard discs but 600+ quid theyre a little out of my budget
