Hi,
mounted a B-pillar yesterday.
There seems to be a quite big gap at the top end. Is that correct or is somesthing missing?

Cheers
Martin

I think there should be a rubber seal there.  608524, same as saloon.  Hopefully you have the ones you took off as they are NLA......

... the thin grey rubber seal you see in the picture  is the seal 608524 that I bought, when they where still available.
And I do not remeber what was there when I dismantled the car

I don't remember clearly either - it is some years since I had a saloon.

Hopefully Bill will be along in due course.......

That gap does look a bit excessive, the excess of the seal is usually folded over and is enough to seal between the two faces. The slotted location for the mounting screw suggests there has been some modification to the pillar, I woudl suspect that some other work has been done which may have altered the shape of this part.

One other thing to note, the original fixing screw is a crosshead or Phillips type, rather than the hex you have installed. Access isn't great in this area and I would keep to the original style,

Cheers,
Bill.

I'm surprised 608524 isn't listed elsewhere. I was making these by die-cutting as they're a simple flate seal. They were always being offered elsewhere, I only made them as they fitted conveniently into the artwork for cutting,

Cheers
Bill.

The excess lip on that seal isn't typical.

I took these pictures last night, the roof is an original with factory fitted seal. It's a bit grubby I'm afraid, but you should be able to see the original arrangement,

Cheers,
Bill.
