Has anyone seen a Herald Speedometer with a black dial calibrated to 80mph before, and if so, on what model?

Mark

The early 'S' used up residual stock, they also had the 2-tone interior of the regular 948s. Later examples got black gauges and a bespoke monotone interior which lackd the rear quarter trim pockets.

Cheers,
Bill.

Ah, I see.  Any pics of the interior and pocketless rear quarter trims?  The late S must be rarer than the early S?

I have a late 'S', though it's in a pretty well dismantled state.

Calling it late is a bit wrong really. Most surviving 'S' models are from early 1961. The 'S' was marketed into 1964, however mine is the latest I know of, built in late 1961 but unsold until 1963. I suspect there were many cars sat unsold for a long time.
Mine has all of the 'late' features I mention, I'll photograph the trim panels and dashboard when I get a chance, it's something I ought to do to keep a record as there are no (known to me) complete cars to illustrate it.

Cheers,
Bill.
