your Vitesse will turn more heads than much else out there, and sounds glorious

Says Jimbo,

yer spot on ther, the amount of folk that look wen the GT goes past is unrel
even folk looking behint them as its coming to them,
cos the noise is totally diff to any thing eles aroond here

So, what ever it is, in decent shape, it,ll only get the looks,
sep ina car park full of modern hot stuff aroond it

Then, who has been showed up,!!!
And, wid yours, wen the suns up, ora nice day, yer the envy of most folk ina TinTop,
me included,!!

Popped up to Tesco on Saturday in the GT6, because I needed fuel. Pulled up by the pump and the (old) guy in the SUV the other side walked round saying "I was wondering what sort of car that was but my wife said it says 'Triumph' on the back". Yes, people do notice our cars and are interested, positively, where their only reaction to faster, modern cars is boredom or "damned boy racer idiot".

I went to a track day a while ago, in Silverback, for some testing.
Everyone else was young lads in small/tarted up Euro/Japanese boxes, and I could see there was a bit of sniggering about what this old guy had brought along.
After a few laps, they were crowding round to see what I had.

It's not what you got, its what you do with it!

Up on the A40 by Oswestry in my Saloon  the other week and got left behind by an old lady in a Ford Ka, blo*dy brilliant or what.

She was giving the Ford some serious stick, Jason Chinn was with me, we both gave her the thumbs up as we (eventually) overtook her!

Marcus is partially correct about Triumph power outputs diminishing through production runs, different measurement methods and emission measures took their toll.

Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run (Part of the organising team, what a team)!
RBRR is the best car event in the UK, not probably, it is!

1970 GT6 Mk.2: Royal Blue 6 RBRRs (98, 00,02,04,06 & 10), 2 10CRs (03 & 07). 2 HCRs 1 LCC, lots of Autosolos and numerous track days. Bought in 1983, crikey where did the time go! Now running the Roy Lacey cooling system!

1969 2.5Pi Mk.1: Slate Grey 3 10CRs (05,09 & 15), 3 RBRRs (08, 12 & 16), 3 HCRs, 2 LCCs. A few alloy panels, does need the pi kit fitting. Bought April '04. Needs paint! Just fitted some new 7J Minilites-not copies!

1967 Spitfire mk2: Wedgewood Blue. Bought November 2010. Almost seems civilised. Car has done a RBRR (Dave Picton 2010). Blimey, could be on the road soon!

A mate and I went to a track day some years back. He had a 2500 Vitesse. His first run out they put him out behind two period modified Minis he was told this was because the Minis would have him. In very short order he overtook both the minis. (which you are not allowed to do) but that mistake did not happen again. Later on he even had a real good tangle with an old stripped out  RWD Toyota Supra.

I remember being wrong once before Laurence Cochrane Newtownards Northern Ireland. 1972 Gt6 2600EFI The Mutt. Some original parts fitted, Not many ! Early PI motor overbored to 2.6. Lightened & balanced, ported chambered, cam'd 6-3-1 manifold. Running on DTA engine management system incorperating the PI throttle bodies fitted with electronic injectors and throttle position sensor. 0-60 4.7s & 7000rpm. Seriously annoys owners of modern stuff ! (particularly coz its a heap) 2500 S box with competition 28% od. 3.63 diff with a quaife in it, innit ! Rotoflex based rear but with a swing spring fitted & sliding shafts.(swing spring rotoflex without rotoflex's). Koni's front Spax rear. Hydraulic handbrake. Citroen xantia discs 11,1/4 in dia under Morris Garages 15 in Maestro alloys.

...I called at the local coal merchants for a sack of coal on Sat. morn. - hadn't been there for several years...used to call in the Herald. I asked how his father was & whether he still had the Corvette - he had. He said that we still laugh & tell the story of how we overtook you on the Leek/Buxton road, carried on via Buxton & by the time we passed the cricket field at Ashford-in-the-Water you'd already parked up & must have been in the pavilion!
...I well remembered the occurrence - I cut across the moors & having taken both routes I know that it is shorter over the moors by 3miles - having said that, me & the little car knew the moorland route intimately &, no doubt, being on the last minute I wasn't hanging around...
