Didn't quite make it by the first, but looking fantastic.

Yeah, I had a work thing that came up last minute, last week, so I had to push everything 1 week to the right.

Coventry to Bicester yesterday.  Had the car photographed professionally at https://www.micrographix.co.uk/about-us/our-studios/

Then to Oxford, to meet up with some college mates.

Car ran like a champ.  I do need to fiddle with the idle screw when I go out there.  And Dave says that the mixture might need changing, as the engine beds in.  I'm a little bit afraid of that, if I'm honest.  It's been a long time since I've held a spanner or a screwdriver!

Setting off shortly for Surrey.

Hey Ben,

Congratulations on the reunion! What a heart felt story and one that stands true to patience being a virtue.

Would love to see a photo of you with the car. This this would polish this thread off nicely And a throwback to the pic we have all seen of the car with your God Mother.

And thanks to JK and Canley for being the great sports they are, helping to make it all happen.

Cheers
Jason from NZ

To square the circle, a few pictures.

First, I drove the car to Regents Park, to meet up with my family.  When my godmother owned the car in the 1960s, she enjoyed driving around the park's inner circle.  She was from rural Ireland, and she said it felt like a little piece of countryside in the middle of central london.

We have an engine!  That is a thing of beauty, in my eyes.

What is that lovely black engine paint in the block closeups? I can never get mine that shade, it's always too glossy.

If it was made by man, it can be dismantled and rebuilt by man. Usually just not as easily.

I honestly couldn't say.  For that information, you'd have to talk to the man of the moment, the legend, the hero: Dave Pearson of Canley Classics.
