I was so impressed with the 1200 I bought with my mate (for him) I decided that I would like a 1200 or 12/50 saloon. I went a 400 mile trip to look at a 12/50 today but it wasn't up to the standard, so if you know of a nice one let me know....estates, couriers and convertibles considered too!!

If you look at my thread titled "My First Triumph" in the Toledo/Dolomite section and take a closer look at the pic of my Toledo you will notice a few Heralds in the background (just above Quentin's Dolly in the pic) That pic was taken at the garage where the chap who sold me the Toledo works (somewhere near Aylesbury) If you want I can pass on his contact details and hopefully he might have what you're looking for. Just e-mail or PM me.

You mean the same guy that sold you a Toledo that then threw a big end bolt through the sump and causing a sudden halt to your journey home?

Martin, I was doing 80mph at the time! Don't you think I was pushing my Toledo a little bit hard? Anyway, I won't know what holed the sump till I get it off. All I know is that the crankshaft is in one piece and still turns!

The search continues, last week Barnstable, 188 miles to see what can only be described as well used!
I'm off to Halifax on thursday to see a 12/50, I have seen the guy in Aylsbury advertising, but I will try him next.
The only problem with the one I am going to see is that it has a 13/60 engine, the 12/50 or GD engine is my prefered unit, so if I buy the car I will be on the lok out for one of those.

Well it was in Penzance, but I have me a 1200 saloon, it drove back to Birmingham really well, used a bit of oil but that not suprising as I think it is original condition 60.000 miles.
So now I need a good drivers door a set of rear valances and overiders if you just happen to have any spare.......
Cheers
Chris

Better still, get your chrome from Canley Classics - it's them who get most of it remade these days and the quality is now spot on - be careful of so called "New Old Stock" as tere were some utter crap over-roders reproduced some time ago that may still be in circulation.

Thanks for the advice chaps, I have sold my 13/60 convertible now, and the coupe is tucked up in a carcoon for the winter, the beauty of this 1200 is that I am happy to use it, where the coupe, although not concours any more would be destroyed by the salt.
The parts I need are not urgent......oh look theres a 1200 convertible on ebay......now wife put down the gun........Agh

I just noticed there's a 1200 for sale at Canleys - looks honest but needs some work on the bonnet methinks. Nice trim though.
