Sunday 15th July
at Bovingdon Aerodrome, Hemel Hempstead , Herts
Welcome
Club Triumph is to promote an Autosolo event at Bovingdon Aerodrome on Sunday 15th July 2012. Following on from the success of last years event, which was the our 3rd successive event in so many years, the event will continue to be open to Club Triumph members, as well as members of other affiliated clubs with "suitable" vehicles. The test area we will use will be part of the old runway, the surface being concrete.
What is an Autosolo?
Autosolo is a relatively new form of motor sport in the UK . You don’t need a specialised car, which means it won’t break the bank. As a skill based competition against the clock, it provides a challenge to both novice and expert alike.
What’s involved?
Organisers will mark out a route using traffic cones, to help you find your way around, some cones are laid on their side to point the way. When you have to drive between a pair of cones, these gates are numbered in sequence, again helping with the route. You will be given time to learn the route before the event starts.
When you arrive at the start line, the marshal will start the clock as you pull away (following a countdown if you wish), you must then drive around the course without touching any of the cones. Unlike an Autotest, there are no requirements to reverse or stop astride lines but you must follow the correct route.
The clock will stop as you cross the finish line. As you catch your breath, the marshal will tell you your time and return your all important timing card.
There will usually be 4 different routes laid out during the day and you will get 3 runs at each.
The overall winner is the driver who has the lowest total score at the end of the day. In addition, there will also be class winners (more details are given in the regulations).
